Copenhagen: A Step Forward, Two Steps Back

Hizb-ut Tahrir is denied the use of public buildings, but roving youth gangs enforce sharia against bar owners, and segregated swimming has been introduced to the city.

In a victory following a long legal battle, Denmark’s capital city has succeeded in evicting Hizb-ut Tahrir from meeting in all publicly funded buildings. Hizb-ut Tahrir is a notorious international organization that hides behind claims of nonviolence to argue for the overthrow of all governments on earth, to be replaced by an Islamic state operating according to strict sharia law.  Though its official claims of nonviolence protect it from being banned in some countries, its alumni have often gone on to join violent groups.  Alumni include al Qaeda leaders Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.  Denmark has finally cut off public funds to this group.

The decision to bar Hizb ut-Tahrir from undermining democracy in state-owned premises came just days after the Danish government tightened the screws in its public information law in a bid to cripple extremist associations and groups promoting violent radicalism.

The doors to taxpayer-funded facilities have finally been shut for the notorious Islamist organization after years of failed attempts by the state of Denmark in an uphill battle against the Islamists’ tirades against Jews, homosexuals and Western democracy…. “The government will no longer be a fool with its own money,” Culture Minister Bertel Haarder of the Liberal Party said, ensuring that the new law may also be used against the notorious Grimhøj Mosque in Aarhus, which last year made international headlines by declaring its support for Daesh and encouraging its flock to stone adulteresses to death.

On the other side of the ledger, radicalized youth in Copenhagen’s Nørrebro district have been harassing bar goers and threatening to shut down the service of alcohol.  They are claiming that the district is now Islamic, and must come under sharia law.

Copenhagen bar owners are begging for government protection against Muslim activists trying to impose a strict “Sharia zone”….

“Recently some young men came in and shouted that all the guests should leave. They then shouted that the place belonged to them and that Nørrebro is covered by Sharia, so alcohol is forbidden,” Heidi Dyrnesli, owner of Café Heimdal in Nørrebro, told Radio24syv.

The Nørrebro district is now nearly thirty percent recent immigrants to Denmark, especially Arabs, Turks, and Pakistanis, with some additional communities from Somalia and the former Yugoslavia.  Ironically, it is also the final resting place of Søren Kierkegaard, one of the most famous and influential Christian philosophers of the 19th century.  The culture that produced Kierkegaard is washing away, however, as the waves of immigration and refugees change the face of the city.

Copenhagen is witnessing a major influx of young Muslim girls flocking to swimming pools following the introduction of segregated hours for boys and girls…. [T]he decision stirred strong reactions among fellow Danes, with a number of politicians and commentators rebuking it for being contrary to Danish values.

The girl-only swimming hours take place with windows and doors to the swimming hall blacked out in accordance with the religious and cultural requirements put forward by parents, reports Berlingske.

The swim club calls this “a recipe for integration.” But who is integrating whom?
