Dutch immigration protest leader Edwin Wagensveld was arrested by police at a rally opposing mass immigration from the Islamic world for wearing a popular child’s hat shaped like a pig.  Police ordered a woman to remove the hat, and Wagensveld put it on after she had taken it off.

Police shoved media out of the way for trying to report on the suppression of free speech that might be offensive to Muslims.

Though the protest group is under intense watch by police, they themselves have been the victims of violence recently.  Last weekend, a group of these protesters were attacked by socialist marchers using firecrackers.  A police bomb squad was called to the march to deal with the possible threat posed by explosives.

The protests aimed at government plans to settle more than a thousand migrants in the Dutch town come as the German government has discovered that the countries of origin for these migrants refuse to take them back.  Seventeen nations across the Middle East have received protest letters from the German government for flatly refusing the possibility of repatriating their citizens who have flooded European borders in recent weeks.  Protest groups in northern Europe are thus aware that the resettlements being forced upon them by their own governments will become permanent features of their community.

A German branch of this protest movement has marched in Dresden for more than a year, weekly and in numbers reaching 25,000, without the government altering its policy.  Instead of responding to their citizens’ concerns, government officials in Germany have tried to paint them as radicals.  Those opposing them from the left portray them as being merely a populist, anti-Muslim movement.  Their concerns about upholding the stability of their communities and traditions are ignored.

As this arrest shows, the suppression of their viewpoint has moved into denying them ordinary human rights of free expression insofar as those rights are offensive to Islam.  This is a submission by Dutch police to Islamic standards on blasphemy.  By getting our own police to enforce the Islamic standards upon us as if they were already the law, radical Islamic groups with influence among Western governments can begin to prepare free populations to submit to Islamic law.  A prosecutor who interviewed Wagensveld released him without charge because, of course, wearing a child’s hat is perfectly legal.  It is nevertheless grounds for arrest if it offends Islam.
