Palestinian ‘Partner for Peace’ Abbas Accuses Israel’s Rabbis of Poisoning Palestinian Water

If EU leaders think propping up a perpetual liar and inciter of jihad is going to help bring stability to the Levant, they are only fooling themselves.

How can the West back a Palestinian government headed by a blatant anti-Jewish president? Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas proved yet again his disregard for the Jewish people by invoking a “medieval anti-Semitic libel,” while speaking to EU lawmakers in Brussels, Belgium Thursday. In his speech Abbas stated:

“Only a week ago, a number of rabbis in Israel announced, and made a clear announcement, demanding that their government poison the water to kill the Palestinians,” Abbas said.

“Isn’t that clear incitement to commit mass killings against the Palestinian people?”

Of course Abbas went off on his usual diatribe about “settler terrorism,” Israel’s army performing “murderous operations against the Palestinians,” Israel breaking international law, etc. The Jerusalem Post reported that Abbas’ solution to end terrorism includes:

“In order to overcome terrorism, we also need to end Israeli occupation by creating a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with east Jerusalem as its capital,” Abbas said. He spoke in Arabic and his words were translated into English by the EU.

The absence of a two-state solution, he said, would give “pretext to those who commit terrorism in the name of religion.”

However, he said, “once this occupation ends, those pretexts will disappears [sic] and extremism will be over as will terrorism. There will be no more terrorism in the Middle East nor elsewhere in the world,” Abbas said.

What a laughable claim. It ignores groups and individuals that want to completely eradicate the Jewish state, as well as the U.S. and the Western way of life. Worse yet, the Brussels crowd gave Abbas a standing ovation after he finished speaking. The EU seems more concerned about being at the negotiating table during Arab-Israeli peace talks than actually treating Israel fairly. The EU’s placation to the Palestinians could be due to a number of factors such as trying to gain favor with the Islamic world (ex. trade/energy, immigration, and security among others). Europe’s history of anti-Semitism also plays a role, which would explain how Abbas was able to get away with spewing a myth of Jews poisoning wells that was used to persecute Jews when the bubonic plague hit Europe in the 14th Century. This is the same Abbas who claims Zionists colluded with the Nazis in his thesis titled, “The Other Side: The Secret Relations between Nazism and the Leadership of the Zionist Movement” (Translation by Wiesenthal Center):

“A partnership was established between Hitler’s Nazis and the leadership of the Zionist movement… [the Zionists] gave permission to every racist in the world, led by Hitler and the Nazis, to treat Jews as they wish, so long as it guarantees immigration to Palestine.”

It’s amazing that Abbas is able to get away with such propaganda, especially to a Western audience. If EU leaders think propping up a perpetual liar and inciter of jihad is going to help bring stability to the Levant, they are only fooling themselves. It isn’t Israel that’s causing terrorism, it’s Islamist leaders like Abbas. Abbas is promoting hate, while getting rewarded for it.
