Cut Down the Black Flag

Clinton's ISIS strategy is weak.

BY CounterJihad · @CounterjihadUS | August 18, 2016

Hillary Clinton has resolved against sending ground forces of any kind to fight against the Islamic State (ISIS).  This approach is unlikely to prevail.

In Cut Down the Black Flag:  A Plan to Defeat the Islamic State, author Jim Hanson explored a range of options for addressing the challenge of the caliphate.  One option was to avoid commitment of conventional military forces, attempting to address ISIS with intelligence and special operations capacities only.  This course of action (COA) was called “COA Null” in order to demonstrate that it involved minimal commitments.

Here we reproduce just a small section of the book that show the likely negative consequences of this course of action.

Hillary Clinton has inadequately considered the dangers associated with her chosen course of action.  She is leaving Europe and others holding the bag, while Russia and Iran will profit at the expense of America’s prestige and regional power.  Her approach is reckless and thoughtless.  A more fully-considered approach is wanted if America is to effectively pursue its interests in the Middle East.  Indeed, given the power of the caliphate as a symbol, an effective response to ISIS is the foundation of American interests worldwide.
