Conservative gay activist Milo Yiannopoulos claims that he is preparing to lead a gay pride march through a neighborhood in Sweden he describes as a “Muslim ghetto.”  He explained that he was motivated by the Swedish authorities who have tried to tamp down on gay pride in order to avoid offending recent immigrants’ Islamic sensibilities.

Yiannopoulos said:

I’m gonna go to Sweden in a couple of weeks and lead the parade in Sweden through the Muslim ghetto… Because last year, you’ll remember that the Swedish authorities, the Swedish government, you know these far-left social justice lunatics who are trying to create a progressive paradise in Sweden, well I’ll tell you what a progressive paradise is like: A broke country where all the women get raped.

A year ago, Swedish authorities told a gay march off for being too unnecessarily provocative for marching through a Muslim area. Now to my mind, the point of gay pride was always to be brave and defiant in the face of hateful social conservatism, right? I thought that was it. That’s what they’re doing.

So I’m gonna go and I’m gonna be there in Sweden in a couple of weeks and march through this heavily Muslim area to remind people, and I hope it will remind people in Europe at least, what the problem is today.

Yiannopoulos is known for engaging in social commentary that is a mixture of truths forbidden by political correctness, and wildly-over-the-top claims that are designed to offend in order to get attention.  For example, he wrote quite forthrightly about the dangers of birth control pills to women — a subject almost completely forbidden in polite company, such that even Catholic bishops rarely address it in spite of being in charge of advancing formal doctrines against such pills.  Yiannopoulos did so by penning an article titled “Birth Control Makes Women Unattractive and Crazy,” which title was of course designed to offend many readers.  The article raises real concerns, but mixes them with intentionally provocative description designed to outrage.

This march will doubtless be of a similar sort, suggesting that it will be a true spectacle.  It is not the first time that he has spoken to the threat that Islam and sharia pose to his community, however.  In the wake of the Orlando shooting, he went to Florida and was refused a platform by local authorities.  So, he spoke to the crowd.

His speech was genuinely brave.  People get killed for this kind of speech, and he has to know it.

He said:  “I’m here to give you a warning from Europe… when governments… molycoddle Islam.  I know what happens to gay people.  I know what happens to trans-people.”  He follows up with a poll that found that 100% of British Muslims had declared homosexuality unacceptable.

“This is not radical Islam.  This is Islam.  I want you to take away something that we are learning painfully in Europe now.  Politicians do not have your back.  The media does not have your back.  People are not going to protect gays or women or blacks or Latinos or any other minority.  You’ve got to do it for yourself…. armed gays don’t get bashed.”

Importing Muslims into this country is going to represent significant risks to minorities.  Politicians don’t want to hear that… this is the reality that Europe is living through.  Please don’t make our mistakes.  America is better than that, and you have an opportunity now to save yourselves before this happens.”
