Influence: The Muslim Brotherhood in America

Brotherhood-linked, Terror-linked Islamic Group invited to White House

The Obama administration asked them to come to its conference called "Celebrating and Protecting America's Tradition of Religious Pluralism."

Muslims of the Americas, a group invited by the Obama administration to participate in a conference on ‘protecting religious pluralism,’ is a front group for a terrorist organization and is linked to the Muslim Brotherhood.  Here is a video from their headquarters, which they call “Islamberg,” meaning “Islam City,” showing them conducting military training for female members.

The tie between this group invited to the White House and a terrorist organization in Pakistan is clear.  The Muslims of the Americas are tied to the Pakistani terrorist organization Jamaat ul-Fuqra, according to sworn testimony by a member at his trial for a 1991 bombing plot in Canada.   The State Department has described ul-Fuqra as “an Islamic sect that seeks to purify Islam through violence.”  The Department of Homeland Security gives the leader of Jamaat ul-Fuqra as one Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani, resident of Pakistan.  The Muslims of the Americas state openly that their leader is the very same Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani.  They deny any knowledge of ul-Fuqra, as they ought to do according to principles of Islamic law.

There is also a tie to the Muslim Brotherhood.  According to the Clarion Project, Muslims of the Americas shares a board member with the Brotherhood’s Council on American Islamic Relations.  The Brotherhood entity CAIR sought out the Muslims of the Americas leader rather than the other way around.  Tahirah Amatul Wadud was serving as the general counsel of the Muslims of the Americas when he was invited to join CAIR.

Wadud has also served as a conduit for anti-Jewish writing from ul-Fuqra leader Gilani into social media.  Gilani is quite committed to the view that Jews are evil:

“I have never seen, in the whole of my life or even in the past thousand years, a Jew who will tell the truth,” Gilani says.  In his book, Qur’anic Psychiatry, Gilani teaches, “Jews are an example of human Satans. This is why Jews are the founders of Satan worship and Masonic lodges, and are now trying to take over the entire globe in which the global religion is to be Satanism.”

That makes this group that claims him as its leader a shocking addition to a conference on defending religious pluralism.  Presumably Judaism is among the religions to be defended, and it has certainly been a core part of the American religious tradition.  George Washington had warm ties with Jewish leaders during his administration, and visited the congregation in Savannah, Georgia.

Once again, the Obama administration has chosen to cozy up to a Brotherhood-linked group under the guise of respect for religion.  This choice is even more questionable than most.
